The Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries in the eastern English Channel is mainly addressed through scientific projects and products. The Interreg CHARM project (1st phase: 2003-2005, 2nd phase: 2006-2008, 3rd phase: 2009-2012) involves English and French scientists and aims at integrating knowledge on various levels of the ecosystem (environment, primary and secondary production, benthos and pelagics, birds and mammals, fishery activities, legal framework, social aspect). At the European level, ICES has also initiated working groups on the EAF. Despite the increasing number of studies on the EAF, up to now, no actual measure is taken in term of fisheries management in the eastern English Channel.
