A synthetic ranking of all ecosystems is provided here, for each indicator from the below categories:

- Ecological and biodiversity indicators
These indicators were selected to reflect the ecological status of marine ecosystems, and the effects of fishing on ecosystem functions and properties (production of biomass, stability over time, resistance to perturbations). Current states and recent trends of indicators are provided. Good ecological status of ecosystems are characterized by high values of indicators (pie plots), and improvement corresponds to positive trends in indicators (in green in the bar plots).

- Climate and environmental indicators
The ecological status of marine exploited resources is affected by fishing activity, but is also strongly dependent on the environment. Here we consider two simple environmental indicators to characterize marine ecosystems, and to allow for comparisons. SST is the Sea Surface Temperature; Chl a is the density of chlorophylle a (phytoplankton) in the ocean and reflects the production potentiality of an ecosystem.

- Human dimension indicators
These indicators allow to evaluate the human side of fisheries activities, and their benefits to society. Three aspects are considered: 1) effectiveness, efficiency and fairness of fisheries management; 2) contribution of fisheries to the broader society; and 3) wellbeing and resilience of fishing communities.
