Bay of Biscay - Ecology

In the Bay of Biscay, changes in species composition since the eighteenth century are identified and both fishing and warming effects contributed. A significant warming of the sea surface temperature has been reported as well as increased records of tropical species.
There are regular analytical assessments of most exploited fish stocks, a standard annual RV survey, regular market sampling of landings in all ports, but no seasonal monitoring of plankton, seabirdsor marine mammals.
